While you were sleeping, Konami has snuck a demo for Metal Gear Solid 4 on the Japanese PlayStation Store. The demo features the game’s first area, set in the Middle East.

Four months after the game’s release, it’s curious to see them releasing a demo now, but we suppose it’s better late than never. While in Japan for Tokyo Game Show this year, we noticed some curious pricing for the game at a few retailers. By curious we mean cheap … bargain bin cheap. Sales numbers show that Konami only moved somewhere in the range of 600,000 copies in Japan; maybe this demo will help push sales before year’s end.

I have to admit something — I logged onto the Japanese PlayStation Store and can’t find the demo anywhere. Poking around online, more than one person has downloaded it, so clearly it exists. You know what, never mind. I have the game; I’ll just pop in the disc if I want to play it.

I hear it’s pretty good
