World of Tanks: HEAT is now live, and you can take full advantage of your graphics settings on PC to get the best possible performance. Unlike the OG WoT experience, HEAT is closer to a hero shooter in some ways.

That’s why you’ll want to get high FPS and prevent stutters at all costs.

Before I dive into the best settings to use with the current build of the game, here’s my setup.

  • 32 GB of DDR4 RAM
  • AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
  • AMD Radeon 9060XT 16 GB

While my setup is comfortably past the recommended requirements, I did encounter mild stutters. Here’s the setup I am using. I will also mention alternatives if your PC is closer to the minimum requirements.

  • Resolution: This will be locked to your native screen resolution. You can’t change this in the current build of the game. However, opting for XeSS/FSR will allow you to artificially reduce this to ease the load on your system.
  • Display mode: Borderless. Go with your personal preference for this one.
  • V-Sync: On — If you encounter stutters, it’s better to keep this on. While it will artificially cap the FPS, gameplay will be more consistent.
  • Frame Rate Limit: 120 FPS
  • Graphics Quality Present: Custom
  • General: Maximum (Minimum/Medium if your PC GPU isn’t strong enough).
  • Objects: Medium
  • Terrain: Medium
  • Lighting: Medium
  • Shadows: Minimum (Having shadows in this game adds very little. It’s better to minimize them to reduce the load on your system).
  • Post-Process: Maximum (Again, reduce this if you’re encountering performance issues).
  • Visual Effects: Medium (While Maximum is alright on my system, the blasts and aftereffects feel a tad overwhelming to look at).
  • Upscaling Method: Off (Turn this on to produce more frames at the cost of visual quality).
  • Auto-Adjust Upscaling Quality: Yes
  • Render Resolution: Will be decided automatically by the system.
  • Dynamic Resolution: Put it at 60 FPS if you have an older PC. Adjust accordingly.

These few changes have certainly improved the general performance. However, there’s an odd issue when the game seems to crash when you complete a new achievement. This appears to be random, and is likely a bug (has nothing to do with the general in-game performance).
