Finding the best weapon tree for all weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds can be tricky. There are so many viable builds in the game that can suit your playstyle.

Best weapon tree for all weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds

The list will assume that you have already unlocked Rarity 8 weapons. Some of these are either chosen for their element or skills that are must-haves to make your build(s) shine.

Great Sword – Nerscylla 

You won’t hit enemies often enough to proc the Sleep element on this weapon tree. What you need is the white sharpness in Rarity 8 to be exceptionally high.

Pair that with the Level 2 Offensive Guard and Level 1 Guard skills. You’ll easily be able to socket gems to max these out unless you find an armor set that can do just that, allowing you to then put points into other skills like Weakness Exploit, Counterstrike, and Agitator.

Sword & Shield – Lala Barina

The Lala Barina tree in general is one of, if not the best, weapon trees for most weapons in Wilds right now. Paralysis is very strong, having almost no resistance against it. 

It’s particularly well suited for faster weapons like the Sword & Shield from how often you can hack and slash enemies. The focus on Crits will turn this into a free shock trap every minute as you slash away at giant monsters.

Hammer – Arkveld

Focus is a must-have skill for hammers, and if you get the final version from this weapon tree, you get a max-level Focus stat. This frees up slots in your armor and your charms to complement that ability for either more damage or survival.

Lance – Gore Magala

Critical Element is one of the best overall skills in Wilds right now. Also, the Lance is extremely powerful in defending from most attacks with some proper gem slots. Combined with a full Crit Element weapon, it saves space for more defensive customization on your armor.

Switch Axe – Lala Barina

The Switch Axe with Lala Barina is a bit of a mixed bag. Critical Draw is pointless on this weapon type and you’re only really using it for the Level 1 Critical Status skill and the Paralysis element. Since this weapon hits so often, you’re going to proc paralysis a lot and get a bunch of free hits.

Once you have more consistent access to Artian weapons, getting a full Paralysis Attack Artian build will outshine the Lala Barina tree.

Insect Glaive – Lala Barina

Once you get the Red Extract, you can start wailing away at monsters, stunning them into Paralysis. You can build everything else around your Glaive’s strengths with additional jewels to either increase the potency of the status effect or for defensive purposes.

Heavy Bowgun – Gore Magala

Critical Element is once again the name of the game here, being the perfect candidate. It also has access to Slicing Ammo and Exhaust Ammo, giving you a lot of DPS and control of large monsters.

Long Sword – Lala Barina 

Long Swords with Paralysis are borderline broken. They already have so much damage, stun, and defensive potential that, paired with Paralysis, you can probably never let a monster get away or even attack you.

From each instance of damage you can deal with the Long Sword, the Lala Barina tree just enhances everything, especially if you go for Crits.

Dual Blades – Lala Barina

Since Dual Blades hit so often with their flurry of attacks, Paralysis procs will just ensure that a monster can’t hurt you. It’s sort of in the same vein as the Long Sword or Sword & Shield.

Also, the huge bar of white sharpness will give your Dual Blades so much more of a spike in DPS before going down to blue. By the time the sharpness wears down a level, the monster you’re facing is limping and ripe for capture already!

Hunting Horn – Gore Magala

If you use this just for the Earplugs ability alone, your teammates will love you. The other buffs are nice like Self-Improvement and Affinity Up, but the star of the show is nullifying monster roar effects.

Gunlance – Ajarakan

Blast is an element that can rack up tons of damage with proper buildup. It also has Level 2 Load Shells and 1 point into Offensive Guard, offering a good start for an explosive and defensive build.

Charge Blade – G. Rathalos

Master’s Touch is too good to pass up on Charge Blade builds since they shine with Crits. The skill doesn’t guarantee to maintain sharpness on Crits anymore, but the 80% is going to keep your weapon from deteriorating past blue with proper setups.

Pair this with the Savage Axe mode and you can melt monsters before they even have a chance to run away.

Light Bowgun – Bone

The Bone tree provides consistent, raw damage for LBGs. Opening Shot is always nice, and paired with a Level 1 Attack Boost, you can use just a few more Attacks.

Bow – G. Doshaguma

This is one of the more versatile bows that doesn’t need extra affinity setup to get massive DPS. Yes, there is a negative affinity for this tree, but the Ballistics and Special Ammo Boost skills will greatly help improve damage from things like Dragon Piercer.

Also, while these might seem like the best tree for all weapons, there is always the whole Artian system that gives your weapons many more customization options with access to three triple gems.
