Best Pokémon for the Fantasy Cup Great League in Pokémon Go

If you want to take part in the Fantasy Cup: Great League Edition battles in Pokémon Go, there are a couple of things to pay attention to. First up, like other Great League modes, you can only enter Pokémon with CP 1500 or lower. Second, this league only allows Pokémon with the typing Steel, Dragon, and Fairy. You can bring Pokémon with a secondary typing, so Empoleon is fine as it is Steel and Water, and Dedenne is allowed as it is Electric and Fairy.

Surprisingly, one of the most powerful Pokémon in the Fantasy Cup is Galarian Stunfisk (Mud Shot, Rock Slide, Earthquake), thanks to great typing and a strong defense. Mud Shot is a spammy move with great coverage, while Earthquake remains one of the best moves in the game, and a nightmare for popular picks like Dedenne.

Galarian Stunfisk can work well alongside Galarian Weezing (Fairy Wind, Sludge, Overheat), Dedenne (Thunder Shock, Parabolic Charge, Play Rough), and Shadow Empoleon (Metal Sound, Hydro Cannon, Drill Peck). Galarian Weezing helps out with some tough threats like Azumarill and Altaria, while Dedenne is useful when countering Togekiss and Corviknight.

Another popular pick is Shadow Excadrill (Mud Slap, Drill Run, Rock Slide), since it can easily spam fast moves and work to quickly take down opponents’ shields. Great teammates here include Azumarill, (Bubble, Ice Beam, Play Rough), and Forretress (Volt Switch, Sand Tomb, Rock Tomb).

Finally, with the prevalence of Steel-type Pokémon, a Fire-type can be good to round out any team, and this is where Turtonator (Incinerate, Dragon Claw, Overheat) comes in. Being both Fire and Dragon-type, this powerful pick is good for breaking down some tough foes like Corviknight, Forretress, and Togekiss.
