DragonSword: Awakening brings a host of different characters, a.k.a. heroes, for you to try out. Paying attention to your team composition will be critical.
When you are just starting out, most of the heroes will remain locked. As such, you will want to build teams with whatever characters are available. You will want to properly plan the unlocks so that you can get the best team composition. While certain heroes are overpowered compared to the rest, paying attention to team synergy is far more important.

Best teams to use in DragonSword: Awakening
First, it’s essential to remember that there is a dedicated tier list for this game. There are a few characters who are definitely more overpowered when it comes to their abilities and equipment.
When you focus on team synergy, you get certain extra benefits. For starters, you will use heroes who complement each other well. You will also use heroes whose abilities complement their builds and allow you to tag effortlessly. This is essential once you are past the early game stage because you will meet difficult enemies and bosses.
Bleed and Stun

The combination of Bleed and Stun is extremely overpowered. I decided to go with Roxy and Theresia as my early undocks for this build. The team revolves around Theresia’s ability to inflict both Bleed and Stun. She is not only a top-tier character, but her abilities elevate this team.
The strategy is simple:
- You use Theresia to inflict bleed on the enemy.
- You use her second ability to cause stuns.
- This allows you to trigger Roxy’s ability and bring her into the battle.
- Continue with the damage that Roxy manages to land.
- Bring your third hero in (Lute/Castella).
You can either keep Lute with this team, or you can swap in Castella for inflicting more stuns on the enemies. I opted for Lute because he offers a bit of healing that is extremely useful during the hard boss battles.
Stagger and Control

If you want to go with something a bit less dramatic but offers more control, you can try out this team.
You have to combine Ornette, Castella, and Alex. The idea is to strip the enemy’s power armor by doing heavy damage. This team works better against bosses, in my experience, especially against those that have massive armor, since you get to drain their main protection rapidly. Taking down those bosses becomes effortless.
You will want to begin your assault with either Ornette or Alex, since both of them work well. Once you manage to break the heavy shields, trigger a knockdown, switch to Castella, and use her abilities to gain momentum in your favor. Once done, bring back Ornette or Alex and repeat the process from the start.
Beginner-friendly team
If you are just starting out, the number of options in your hands will be less, as I mentioned. This team might not be the most synergistic composition, but it’s definitely better than going in blind: Lute, Theresia, and Ornette.
You can unlock Theresia and Ornette pretty early in the game, and loot is available for free. The team offers a balanced setup that has good sustainability and decent damage.
There are no complex mechanisms at play, and you can always switch out Ornette from this team to bring in Roxie if you want to go the bleed route. Alternatively, you can keep Lute and remove Theresia to bring in Castella to form the stagger and control team.
