Silent Hill: Townfall is now out in early access, and it’s easily one of the more graphically intensive titles in recent times. However, you can tweak a fair number of in-game settings to get the best blend of visuals and performance.
In this guide, I will go through an optimized set of sliders that will help you to get the best performance while maintaining an even balance with graphics.
Best Silent Hill: Townfall graphics settings
Before I deep dive into the settings, here’s a rundown of my setup.
- 32 GB of DDR4 RAM
- AMD Radeon 9060XT 16 GB
- AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
Despite my specifications, I had to crank down several features to ensure that it didn’t put a burden on my PC. If your system is closer to the minimum requirements, you’ll need to dial it down further.
- Display Monitor: Default
- Window Mode: Fullscreen if you’re on a single monitor; Borderless Windowed otherwise.
- Upscaler: TSR/FSR. I usually don’t like using upscaling, but it feels necessary for this ame.
- Upscaler Quality Mode: Balanced, but switch it to Performance if you have lag.
- Vsync: Off
- Frame Rate Limit: While I could get 90 FPS comfortably on my system, 60 feels much balanced. It also did away the stutters I endured when the game transitioned from a cutscene.
- Fog Quality: Low
- Texture Quality: Medium
- Shadow Quality: Low
- Reflections: Low
- Global Illumination: Low
- Post Processing: Low
- Raytracing: Turn it off, and don’t even think about turning this on.
- Override Field of View: Off
- Letterbox: Off
- Motion Blur: Off (This doesn’t have any impact on gameplay, but I hate it).
As of writing, the game is out in early access, so I am also expecting few post-launch patches. That said, you should only play Silent Hill: Townfall on a system that can comfortably surpass the minimum requirements; if not, reduce the settings to avoid overloading your PC.
