Best Pokémon in Pokémon Champions
Instead of a tier list, I have included the best choices that are currently available in the game. I have separated them across two categories: Normal and Mega. The latter requires you to have a correct Mega Stone in your inventory.
In Pokémon Champions, the team composition also determines how effective a Pokémon might be. That said, the suggestions listed below have more pros than cons, which makes them incredibly powerful with different teams.

Best Normal Pokémon in Champions
| Pokemon | Type | Pros | Cons |
|---|---|---|---|
| Garchomp | Dragon Ground | Available for free Has extremely well-rounded stats. Rough Skin is a great counter against Physical-type attacks Has moves belonging to different affinities, which are useful for hitting different weaknesses | Speed is pretty low so you’ll always have the second attack Terrible against Ice moves due to 4x weakness |
| Hippowdon | Ground | His single-element type saves him from having too many weaknesses. Sand Stream is one of the best ways to delay the opponents. You can use Yawn to put the enemy to sleep Slack Off allows you to recover HP | Taunt nullifies most of its moves While it shines in stalling opponents, you’ll need an alternative to remove the enemy Pokemon |
| Hydreigon | Dark Dragon | Available for free Dark and Dragon is one of the rarest combinations in the entire game High Special Attack allows you to one-shot opponents U-turn allows it to get out of bad matchups | Extreme weakness to Fairy-type moves General defense is really low |
| Greninja | Water Dark | Available for free with certain teams Has one of the fastest speeds in the entire game A diverse set of moves, complemented by Protean ability | Base offensive power is low Base defensive stats are extremely low |
| Archaludon | Steel Dragon | Pretty easy to obtain despite not being part of a starter unit Has 10 different Resistances One of the best defensive units in the entire game | Low speed means you’ll always have to go second Base offensive power is low, so you’ll need a held item |
| Meowscarada | Grass Dark | Amazing speed, which helps you to get the first strike Can be built in different ways based on your suitability Offers various coverage moves | The low defensive stats mean that it can be one-shotted with attacks that are Super Effective |
Best Mega Pokémon in Champions
In a general sense, Mega Pokémon are better than normal ones. Some of them are incredibly powerful, and you can make them cornerstones of your squads.
| Pokemon | Type | Pros | Cons |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mega Gengar | Ghost Poison | Gengar is available for free Shadow Tag controls the combo, as your opponent can’t switch out Will-o-Wisp allows you to counter Physical attacks Offers plenty of scope for flexible builds | Defensive stats are really low |
| Mega Charizard X | Fire Dragon | The ability to get STAB with Fire and Dragon-type moves allows it to be a great Physical attacker Dragon Dance can sweep the board in one additional turn You ca use Tough Claws to boost the prowess of his Physical moves | If you can’t Mega Evolve, it will be susceptible to any Rock-type moves. The X variant, despite being better, lacks Flying-type moves that you can find with Y. |
| Mega Greninja | Water Dark | Improves the base Greninja in every department Incredible speed always allows the player to get the first attack Ability to get STAB from its Protean ability The Proatean ability also turns things to your favor | Just like the base version, Mega Greninja is extremely susceptible to damage Base Attack will still be on the lower end of things. |
| Mega Delphox | Fire Psycic | One of the most unique combinations in the entire game One of the best Special Attack stats that can one-shot opponents High Speed stat works well with its buffed Special-attack Can use Calm Mind to further boost its speed and special attack | Low defense against Physical Attackers |
| Mega Dragonite | Dragon Flying | Easily available for free Has extremely high basic Attack that makes it a good offensive choice Special Attack and Special Defense are both decent, but they can be boosted further as required | Base Speed is low, which forces you to play defensive It can be susceptible to Pokémon that can one-shot with a huge amount of burst damage. |
Always pay attention to the squad you’re building, because overall synergy is key. This is where making the best choice from the very first pick is crucial. Your choice will also determine the remaining Pokémon that you get, which can also include the likes of Garchomp and Gengar.
