Nioh 3 offers you the chance to play with two different classes, and each one has a robust set of weapons to choose from.

While your options at the beginning of the game will be limited, you’ll soon unlock more options. The effectiveness of each weapon depends on your playstyle, but some of them are simply better in the current version of the game.

Best Ninja weapon in Nioh 3

I prefer the Ninja class compared to Samurai, and there are actually two excellent choices.

Tonfa

The Tonfa was an absolute nightmare for the enemies in Nioh 2, and it’s even better (in some ways) in Nioh 3. I love to play close-range in a soulslike, and the Tonfa is the best option for that. You go all in and try to gank the enemy before unleashing a barrage of heavy hits. If dishing out heavy damage wasn’t enough, the Tonfa also offers Impenetrability.

Impenetrability allows you to parry incoming attacks. Once you master the art, the Tonfa feels like a cheat code. You keep taking almost zero damage while doing the exact reverse on your enemies.

Talons might not be my cup of tea, but it’s the most Ninja-esque weapon you can find. This is ideal if you constantly like to move and attack the enemies. The attacks are fast, the combos are amazing, and you can attack aerially or from the ground.

Additionally, you can also lift a Ki-depleted enemy in the air and then smash them back on the ground. This move isn’t just visually appealing to execute; it can finish most of the enemies in one swift move.

Best Samurai weapon in Nioh 3

My favorite weapon for the Samurai class is the Switchglaive. However, the Axes category (also includes Hammers) do incredible amount of damage with every hit. They’re easy to use and relatively simple to master. However, Axes are extremely slow, and I don’t like that. If you miss a hit, the recovery will take a lot of time. This makes the Switchglaive far more preferable.

The Switchglaive, in the right hands, will do everything on its own. However, it’s perhaps the most complex weapon type in Nioh 3. Your weapon will have different forms, so you essentially have to learn various mechanics. The mechanic associated with Scythe, for example, won’t be the same when you transform your weapon into a Glaive.

However, spending time with Switchglaives is absolutely worth it. Whether it’s damage output, attack speed, or the combos, Switchglaives are an ace in every department. That said, you should stick to Axes if the Switchglaive feels too complex.
