Best frame for farming materials – Warframe

Good thing there's no cap on materials.

Farming resources in Warframe can be a drag. You’ll passively obtain a whole bunch by just playing, but there will be times when certain crafting items require an abundance of a certain material. This is where the heart of the game lies. So to optimize that, here is the best frame for farming materials in Warframe, along with some alternatives.

What is the best frame to farm materials in Warframe?

It’s without a doubt that Nekros is the best overall frame to use when you want to farm resources in the game. His Desecrate ability forces dead enemies to reroll their loot pools. It’s a toggle ability, so it can always stay on with the right build. Luckily, we’ll also provide you with a general build to use below:

The following mod set is something I use that can survive in survival missions that go beyond 40 minutes.

  • Rejuvenation
  • Cunning Drift (Exilus)
  • Health Conversion
  • Adaptation
  • Stretch
  • Equilibrium
  • Overextended
  • Vitality
  • Despoil
  • Eternal War
  • Arcane Guardian and Arcane Grace

What you will notice about this build setup is that it focuses a lot on making Nekros’ health his source of ability upkeep. When Despoil is used, you’ll expend 10 health instead of energy. With all the survivability mods put in place including the Arcanes, Nekros will lose health from each body, but gain it back so quickly from all the red orb spawns.

Note that I did put Eternal War here. It’s a Valkyr augment that can only be used if you use the Helminth system. This turns this farming build into a hybrid melee build. Using a strong melee weapon with a lot of slash damage will also help you obtain even more spoils when farming.

If you do not wish to use a melee build with this, you can put another mod that fits your playstyle or an entirely different subsumed Helminth ability.

If the passive playstyle of Nekros does not suit you, we also suggest you use Khora. She excels at locking down an area with her Strangledome, which conveniently enough, is the star of her farming build. Here’s a general build that you can use with her to farm as well:

  • Energy Siphon
  • Cunning Drift (Exilus)
  • Umbral Fiber
  • Umbral Vitality
  • Pilfering Strangledome
  • Primed Continuity
  • Overextended
  • Equilibrium
  • Constitution
  • Augur Message
  • Arcane Energize and Arcane Guardian

You can swap the Umbral Fiber with something like Adaptation or Steel Fiber. This just ensures that Khora has some means of survival against enemies who ignore her Strangledome. Every other mod on this build increases the potency of her farming ability.
