The build system in Crimson Moon is quite different from what you will find in most other games of this genre. Instead of a rigid class-based system, Crimson Moon follows a fluid archetype. Your build essentially depends on certain items and equipment that you add to your character.
In this guide, I will go through a build that has been giving me a lot of success since I have been playing. This is also a setup you can use if you’re playing solo, but it can also work well in co-op.

Best Crimson Moon build
The first task is to focus on what kind of build you want to run. In the current meta, frost/freeze appears to be strong. Having the ability to slow down and make the enemy take damage on the side is a nice bonus to have. As a secondary element, I like to add bleed since that’s how I love to roll.

Weapon
With the weapon, you have two different options in my books. The Revenant Blade comes with the Winter Sun passive, which is one of the best weapon arts to use in the game. You also get this with the Sword of the Lunar Sentinel, but I went with the former. Winter Sun will always trap the enemy in frost whenever you perform an attack, which forms a perfect synergy with this build.
If you are yet to get the revenant blade or the sword of lunar sentinel, just look for any weapon that can inflict frost with your attacks.

Gear
For the remaining gear, the choice is basic.
- Ring of Frozen Vow for the Frozen Vow Boon.
- Frostbitten Amulet that grants the Aegis of Frost Boon.
For shield and armor, focus on the shield’s ability and overall defense.
Boons
Here are some of the best Boons to target with this build.
- Aegis of Frost: Apply 350 Frost when you block an incoming enemy attack.
- Crusader’s Effect: +10 Power for all Cold Effects.
- Frostbound Charge: Apply 1000 Frost with your Sprint Attacks.
- Frostbound Seal: Apply 1000 Frost when you parry an incoming attack.
- Frozen Vow: Apply 200 Frost with your Light Attacks.
For the minor effect, look for a Boon that applies Bleeding. However, I will just focus on those that amplifies your Frost damage potential, which is the cornerstone of this build.
