Be prepared: High-def videogame remake art is beyond beautiful

Recommended Videos

I think this is the first time in my life I have ever been speechless.

Before anyone cries “OVERDRAMATIC!” please take a look at the attached gallery. Artist Orioto has recreated some iconic retro videogame scenes in glorious high-definition and … yeah … like I said: speechless.

I honestly love so many of his (or her?) pieces that I truly couldn’t decide which one to use as the header pic of this post. I selected the classic opening storm sequence from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past not only because it is stunning, but, well, Link to the Past is my favorite game of all time. What can I say? I’m a little biased. But, man, they are all incredible! Check out the one from Super Mario World … or the one from Street Fighter II … or the one from Super Metroid! MY GOD I CAN’T CONTROL MY HAND OVER THE CAPS LOCK!

As much as I adore retro graphics, can you imagine what it would be like to play all of these high-definition remakes? Someone shoot me in the face because, if there is a heaven, I will be playing these games there.

Please give some much deserved love to Orioto by also checking out his deviantART page. He deserves every bit of praise I am hoping you all heap on him in the comments.

What do you think? Which one is your favorite? Any retro games you would love to see the artist tackle next? CAPS LOCK GO!
