Batman: Assault on Arkham swooping out to save Gotham August 12

Harley looks like Harley again

Wait! I still haven’t gotten to watch Son of Batman! A new Batman animated feature film is releasing August 12, 2014: Batman: Assault on Arkham, on Blu-ray and DVD. Honestly, it looks to be one of the best animated films in the DC Universe to have released this year. I’m hoping it actually delivers.

Assault on Arkham follows the Suicide Squad as they break into Arkham Asylum to win back some top secret information stolen by the Riddler. Harley Quinn decides to set the Joker free, as she is wont to do, but all he wants to do is blow up the Asylum and the rest of Gotham City. Go figure, right? It’s up to Batman to save the day, yadda yadda.

I’m interested in this one because Harley Quinn looks more like her normal self than the recent video game and comic iterations, and Kevin Conroy is returning to voice Batman. We’ve also got Troy Baker and Giancarlo Esposito heading up the voice talent, so you know we’re in for a treat.

What do you say? Are you up for a new adventure with Bats?
