Following hot on the heels on the render of upcoming DLC character Sindel, NetherRealm Studios’ Ed Boon has tweeted out our first clear look at another klassic kombatant returning to Mortal Kombat 11, spiritual shaman Nightwolf.

First appearing in Mortal Kombat 3, Nightwolf was chosen by Raiden as one of Earthrealm’s defenders, alongside such luminaries as former shoalin monk Liu Kang and street cop Kurtis Stryker. Already a hardened warrior, Nightwolf is one of the few Earthrealm fighters who is capable of directly calling upon both the gods and the resources of nature itself. Nightwolf was slain in The Great Sindel Massacre of 2011, sacrificing himself to take out the rampaging monarch.

In the new render, it appears that Nightwolf has managed to shake off his revenant form and returned to the land of the living. No doubt he is ready to return to the fight for Earthrealm, hatchet in hand, and is prepped for a long-awaited rematch with the Edenian Queen. We still don’t know exactly who is next scheduled for release, but given that Nightwolf and Sindel are the only renders revealed so far, odds are good we’ll be see one of them (or hopefully both) real soon.

Mortal Kombat 11 is available now on PS4, PC, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
