Baby T is unlockable in Crash Team Racing’s Back N. Time Grand Prix

You just need to clear the Bronze tier

It wouldn’t be a proper kart racer without cutesy baby characters running amok. Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled‘s second Grand Prix event Back N. Time runs from August 2 to August 25 with a new track, Prehistoric Playground, and fresh rewards to unlock throughout the competitive online season.

As before with the Nitro Tour Grand Prix, the general idea is that you’ll race your heart out, complete challenges to earn those coveted Nitro Points, and rank up across the Bronze, Silver, and Gold tiers. Doing so will unlock up to 18 new cosmetic items, karts, and characters, but that’s easier said than done. Rewards this season include Baby T, “Fake” Baby T (Crash lore is weird), and the Mammoth kart.

Here’s a quick recap of the Back N. Time Grand Prix rewards and challenges.

Once again, there is a Champion Kart and a Signature Decal reward available to those who finish in the top five percent of the Grand Prix leaderboards. You people are maniacs. I’m jealous!

While the actual Grand Prix events are free updates for Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled (and that’s great to see), this next part is decidedly less feel-good: microtransactions are coming in August.

“Starting in early August, players will have the option to purchase Wumpa Coin bundles from their game console stores to supplement the Coins they earn by playing,” according to Activision. “This option won’t change the game’s core mechanics – players will still earn Wumpa Coins by playing the game in any mode, just as before. They will just able to purchase additional coins if they choose.” You hate to see it.

On that note, during the Back N. Time Grand Prix, the Pit Stop will be stocked with Baby Crash and Coco and the very Back to the Future-inspired Probulot 2000 vehicle from Crash Tag Team Racing.

Looking further out, Spyro will join Crash Team Racing in the third Grand Prix. The developers have also teased the arrival of other racers including N. Brio, Nina Cortex, and Komodo Moe.
