There is no shortage of rad games on the Switch today

Nintendo aired a game-packed Indie World Showcase today, highlighting a bunch of indie games coming to the system. And surprise, a lot of them are out today!

Of the many, many indies shown off during today’s stream, a whopping seven games are hitting the Nintendo eShop sometime today. Here’s a quick rundown of the list:

  • Necrobarista: Final Pour
  • Garden Story
  • Axiom Verge 2
  • Boyfriend Dungeon
  • Islanders: Console Edition
  • Slime Rancher: Plortable Edition
  • Curious Expedition 2

If you want to check out the whole showcase, you can find the VOD of it on Nintendo’s YouTube channel here.

The lineup of indie games hitting the Switch today is, frankly, pretty stellar. It’s a good mix of ports and brand-new games, and some surprisingly high-profile ones at that.

Axiom Verge 2 is the follow-up to indie Metroid-alike hit Axiom Verge, bringing a more melee-focused approach to combat and switching up some of the previous game’s conventions. Garden Story, meanwhile, is a Zelda-style adventure game about a heroic grape, and their journey to fight the darkness and restore their community. And it’s a grape. That’s adorable.

Boyfriend Dungeon turns your love interests and fleeting flames into weapons, mixing dating sim with dungeon-crawling. If you’ve ever been so enamored with a loot drop that you’d like to date it, well, here’s your shot.

Other games like IslandersCurious Expedition 2, and Slime Rancher: Plortable Edition bring some PC indie hits over to the Nintendo handheld. And let me draw special attention to Necrobarista, a quiet favorite indie of mine that mixes striking, kinetic visuals with text and occasional exploration. It’s a genuinely wonderful story that would make for perfect bedtime reading on the Switch. Plus, it’s about a coffee shop that exists between the real-world and the afterlife, and also ghosts and death.

Aside from just the “out-today” announcements, there were also a ton of other games confirmed to be coming to Nintendo Switch. Honestly, it’s a pretty good time to be an indie fan.
