Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s Fate of Atlantis DLC looks wild but not wet

Poseidon can’t be happy

It’s right there in the title, I suppose. Fate of Atlantis, implying that this is the story of how the legendary sunken city became submerged. Still, it’s strange to see Atlantis looking all utopian with nary a drop of water to be found.

Assassin’s Creed‘s explanation as to how Atlantis fell begins next week. The first episode of Fate of Atlantis, titled Fields of Elysium, releases on April 23. All three episodes in the expansion are bundled together at a $25 price point; more economically, the $40 season pass includes the Legacy of the First Blade DLC, the Fate of Atlantis DLC, the Assassin’s Creed III remaster, and the Assassin’s Creed: Liberation remaster.

While Fate of Atlantis can technically be accessed regardless of your progression through Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, not everyone will be keen to accept Ubisoft’s workaround method. Here are the two options Ubisoft details for firing up episode one of Fate of Atlantis:

  • Following the main game, players will have to complete the questline “Between Two Worlds,” the mythological main game story arc, and “Heir of Memories,” the Lost Tales of Greece questline that is available after completing the former questline. Finally, they must have reached character level 28 or above.
  • Otherwise, players will be able to use a shortcut created specifically for those who would like to play Fate of Atlantis and who do not fulfill all the above conditions. Thanks to this shortcut, players will enter Greece at level 52 with preset abilities and resources enabling them to start their adventure into the afterlife with the Lost Tales of Greece questline “Heir of Memories.” They will also have the opportunity to choose their hero. However, contrary to the previous option — players’ progression using the shortcut will not carry over to the main game save, and they will not be able to obtain achievements.

For now, we’re left with this trailer as an introduction to Atlantis. It’s adventurous and grand and mystical in all the right ways. And, call me crazy, but maybe there are some God of War vibes? We can’t wait to visit this beautiful and majestic city, and then slam dunk it straight down into the bottom of the ocean.
