With razor-sharp line work rendered boldly and un-apologetically, CitizenWolfie (aka Dennis Davies) taps into a hybrid style that’s forcefully pleasing. Teetering between the edge of character art and comic book illustration, he extracts the hardest edges out of some of our beloved gaming bad-asses and manifests them to his own accord. Kratos’ stance is strikingly fierce through jarring contrast in Ghost of Sparta while his rendition of King Thwomp intimidates a meager and rather doughy Mario. Hard. Core.

But his hard-edged-no-foolin-‘I’d stab you in the jaw with my Wacom tablet pen if you look at me again’ fan art lurks alongside pieces of a somewhat softer variety. And by softer I mean illustrations like the stone-faced chibi-Sephiroth, the also stone-faced duo Mario and Yoshi, and the voluptous coloring of Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider 2 piece. I personally prefer his artistic interpretations of Jimmy from Bully, but when placed in tandem with a gaggle of sexy women-folk, comic art, and other work to be seen in his gallery it’s tough to name favorites.
