And could Team Rocket finally be en route?

Niantic, developer of the globally popular mobile title Pokémon GO, has announced that an armoured variant of powerful Pokémon Mewtwo will be made available in a series of limited-time raids starting from next week.

From July 10 to July 30, the mech-looking antagonist will pop up randomly in five-star raids across the globe, ready to take on hardened trainers in a psychic battle of epic screen-tapping proportions. Additionally, a variety of avatars featuring Mewtwo will be made available in store. You can check out a teaser video for the new prey below.

In additional news, an interesting tease from this week’s Pokémon GO Fest in Germany (as spotted by Eurogamer) appears to signify the arrival of the franchise most notorious villains, Team Rocket. As festivities came to an end at the Dortmund event, a mysterious hot-air balloon was spotted flying high in the sky, bearing the insignia of the mischievous trainers.

Pokémon GO is available now on iOS and Android devices.
