Arma 3 to get a summer 2012 release, here’s how it looks

Next summer, Bohemia Interactive is giving us a break from last-action-hero modern warfare with another one of its frighteningly realistic (but still totally heroic) military sims. Yep, it’s none other than Arma 3.

This one is taking us behind enemy lines on a Mediterranean island — one modeled after “real geographic data,” no less — for its open-ended story. Looking at the features being touted here, it seems like more of the same, but improved.

PhysX support, a “revamped” animation system, and more co-op and competitive multiplayer are what’s being promised. Bohemia will be at E3, although I’m not entirely sure anyone on staff is big into the series.
