Archie collects Sonic’s VG adaptations, Generations style

In Sonic Generations, levels plucked from throughout Sonic’s history were updated and strung together in celebration of the hedgehog’s longevity. In a similar fashion, Archie Comics has gone through its Sonic the Hedgehog archives and compiled adaptations of Sonic’s videogame adventures into a series of digital-exclusive compendiums entitled Sonic: The Games.

Mimicking Generations‘ three-era structure, the books are split into Classic, Millennium, and Modern. Classic collects story arcs adapted from the Genesis and even Game Gear titles, like Sonic Triple Trouble. In Millennium, the Dreamcast is the focus with adaptations of the two Adventure games as well as Sonic Shuffle. Finally, Modern assembles the more recent fare, such as Rush and Colors.

Sonic: The Games Classic has been available as of July 18; for $3.99, the 120+-page behemoth can be obtained on Archie’s Digital Comics page or via the Apple or Android Archie apps. Millennium and Modern will follow on August 8 and 29, respectively. If you have ever been interested in how Archie incorporates actual game events into the comic’s narrative, these ought to do the trick.
