While enjoying a relaxing hangout with Hercules, you stumble upon a strange new mystery to solve in Disney Dreamlight Valley. To help him get to the bottom of what’s going on, you must complete the Aquatic Musings quest.
Quests are some of the trickiest tasks to tackle around the valley, as they’re oftentimes designed to be tricky and challenge you with various tough tasks. If any part of this one is giving you trouble, here’s a complete walkthrough for the Aquatic Musings quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

How to complete Aquatic Musings in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Visit the waters near the Cursed Cave on Dazzle Beach with Hercules
Hercules wants to enjoy some nice, relaxing fishing with you, so start by heading to the Dazzle Beach biome. Make your way over to the water by the Cursed Cave, which is located near the northeast end of this region. The Mystical Cave is also found in this area, so make sure you head to the right one.
Catch the interesting fish that Hercules heard about
Once you’re near the water around the Cursed Cave area, equip your Royal Fishing Rod and toss it into any of the golden ripple spots near this area to catch a strange Grayscale Trout. For me, there were six spots, but all of them vanished as soon as I caught the quest fish out of one, so it doesn’t seem to matter which one you choose, as the rest will disappear once you catch it.
After obtaining the strange fish, talk to Hercules about what you found. Neither of you is quite sure what to make of it, but luckily, there’s a fishing expert you can call upon for assistance. Track down and chat with Moana to discuss the Grayscale Trout.
Gather the ingredients for the Divination Meal
Merlin also shows up to discuss the situation when you’re chatting with Moana, and he suggests making a Divination Meal to get to the bottom of this odd situation. First, you need to gather the ingredients required to cook this dish.
- Grayscale Trout – You caught it during the last part of this quest while fishing with Hercules.
- Bell Pepper – Can be planted, watered, and grown using Bell Pepper Seeds. You can buy them from Goofy’s stall in the Forest of Valor for 12 Star Coins.
- Oregano – Can be found growing in the wild all around the Plaza biome.
- Butter – Can be purchased from the pantry in Tiana’s Palace and Chez Remy for 190 Star Coins.
- Lemon – You can harvest Lemons from Lemon Trees. There are six of them present in the valley. Initially, four are found in the Glade of Trust and two are present in the Forest of Valor, but you may have moved them elsewhere. If you’re unsure where you put them, open the Collection page, choose the Ingredients tab, and hover over Lemons in the Fruit section. The biome where your Lemon Trees are located is displayed here.
Cook the Divination Meal
Once you’ve got all five required ingredients to make this special quest dish, head to any cooking station around the valley. Then, toss in the five components to cook the Divination Meal.
Interact with the Divination Meal in your inventory
After cooking this special dish, open your inventory and locate it. Then, click on the Divination Meal to use it, thus revealing a Memory tied to the fish you found. This Memory highlights Ursula scheming. Chat with Hercules about what you saw.
Enter the Mystical Cave to confront Ursula
The Memory showed Ursula inside the Mystical Cave, so head there with Hercules to see what she’s up to. This is the other cave found in the Dazzle Beach biome and is not the same one you fished by earlier on in this mission. The Mystical Cave can be found near the middle of this region, close to the ramp that leads up to the Peaceful Meadow biome.
Remove the rocks and reach the bottom of the cave
Ursula set up some barriers throughout the cave, so you’ll have to work to get past them and locate her. Equip your Royal Pickaxe and swing at the rocks in your way to proceed down to the very bottom of the cave. Listen to Hercules and Ursula’s discussion once you make it to the end.
Fish out what Ursula dropped
In her haste to escape, Ursula dropped something. Equip your Royal Fishing Rod and toss the line into the golden ripple spot in the pool at the bottom of the cave to catch what she left behind. Then, track down Merlin back in the valley to see if he knows what the item you caught is.
Gather the resources to craft the magic mirror
You need a tool to fight back against the chaos Ursula is trying to cause, and Merlin knows just the thing. Next, you need to gather the required materials to make a special magic mirror.
- One Sea Glass Fragment – You already got this during the last part of the quest.
- Two Garnets – Can be found while mining rock spots around the Plaza and Peaceful Meadow biomes. If you have the A Rift in Time DLC, it’s also found around The Plains and The Wastes. Aladdin’s gem stall also sometimes sells some.
- Five Glass – Can be crafted using five Sand and one Coal Ore. Kristoff’s stall also sometimes has Glass for sale.
Once you’ve got everything you need, head to a crafting station. Click on the Hercules quest icon and select the Sea Glass Mirror item to craft this tool. Give this item to Hercules.
Follow Hercules to Ursula’s Cursed Cave
It’s time to face Ursula, so follow Hercules over to the Cursed Cave in the Dazzle Beach region. Chat with him once you’re there, then head inside to finally see what she’s up to.
Move the Sea Glass Mirror to reflect the light
Inside the cave, wait and listen while Hercules baits Ursula. Then, once he runs back toward you, swoop in and push the Sea Glass Mirror pillar over to the middle of the room. Allow Hercules to taunt her again, then push the pillar again to line it up with the light beam coming from the cauldron. Go through this process one more time to officially put an end to Ursula’s antics.
Pick up the Light of Muses
Walk over to the pool of water by Ursula and interact with the spot there to pick up the Light of Muses. Then, open your inventory and click on this quest item to set it free.
Talk to Ursula about her foiled plans
Approach Ursula in the Cursed Cave and chat with her and Hercules about the situation. As soon as you do, the Aquatic Musings quest will officially be complete. You unlock the Marble Muse Statue item and quite a lot of friendship points with Hercules for getting this mission done.
