Apple counts down to 50 billion downloads, lists top apps

Them birds are still so darn angry

It’s a monumental weekend for Apple, which is days (hours? minutes?) away from 50 billion downloads.

It’s not hard to think back to a time when the App store seemed insignificant, but looking at Apple’s published lists of the top 25 most downloaded paid and free apps it’s clear how much reach brands have had through the platform. Every airport and Walmart is full of Angry Birds merchandise, these days.

Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja, Doodle Jump, Cut the Rope, and Angry Birds Seasons make up the top five most downloaded paid apps, while the unpaid app list is full of social media and practical apps. Plants Vs. Zombies. Minecraft, and Draw Something also place on the paid list. Angry Birds Star Wars is the most recent game on the top 25. One could say, the force is strong with this bird. HAH!? Sorry, it’s the weekend, people.
