As expected, 2K Games revealed a fresh Spec Ops game at the Spike Video Game Awards show. The teaser, beginning with a high-resolution American flag bellowing against a sand-covered background told us instantly that we shouldn’t expect another low-budget entry in the bargain bin series — Spec Ops: the Line looks like the real deal.
And I thought Tron’s antagonist was hard. The opening of the reveal trailer featured some sort of grizzled army man, saying things to an unseen officer talking of madness and duty. “You still intend to rescue me captain,” he says, “now that you’ve seen what I’ve done. I admit, my methods are … unconventional,” he continues as he pulls something from a ragged corpse. “But they are necessary.”
“You must think I’m a monster. That I’ve gone insane. I came to terms with what I am a long time ago, captain. What about you?”
We should note that this looks close to a simulation-style action title with a, perhaps, Modern Warfare 2 flavor. We saw big action as the protagonist wrecked the side of a building, shredding its windows with hot lead. And this was before he took a tumble into it and was forced to blast its humanoid inhabitants at close range. Check out some stills in the gallery below.
