Anomaly Warzone Earth on its way to PS3, adds local co-op

Anomaly Warzone Earth, the rather clever “tower-offense” game, has been slowly making the platform rounds, first releasing on PC in 2011 followed by an Xbox Live Arcade version back in April. Now, 11 bit studios has announced the title’s impending arrival on PlayStation 3, to be delivered through PlayStation Network later this summer.

While it is, of course, wonderful that players who might not have had the opportunity to play Anomaly in one of its earlier incarnations will now get that chance, there’s a bit more coming in this new release. The PS3 version of Anomaly Warzone Earth will include a new local cooperative mode for two players which divvies up the squad management and strategic planning elements.

All of this is to say that I’m going to have to buy this game for a third time now. I’m pretty okay with that because I love it and don’t mind supporting a great game, but I do hope that the co-op winds up offering a distinct and enjoyable experience. Otherwise, I think I’d be much happier knowing they were working on a sequel.
