Angry Birds board game is a real thing and I want it!

If you’re into mobile gaming as much as I am, then there is simply no way you’ve not heard of Angry Birds, a game in which you launch furious beaked bastards at thieving green pigs. It dominated 2010, and it’s going to tackle 2011 in a surprisingly old fashioned way — arriving as a board game.

Angry Birds Knock on Wood is a physical representation of the popular mobile game, as you physically toss little plastic birds at haphazardly built structures housing the porcine criminals. It’s due out in May of this year and it even features a little catapult with which to fling the ornithological terrors.

The game is for two players and features a little more strategy than simply throwing birds. One of two players picks up a mission card, upon which is the shape of a structure for the other player to build. Then the card-carrying player has to knock it down and score points. This alternates until a player has reached 1,000 points.

It looks like it may be fun, or at least worth displaying on a shelf somewhere. All I know is that I want it.
