Angry Birds: 6.5 million downloads on Christmas Day

What. In. The. Hell? Angry Birds was downloaded 6.5 million times on Christmas Day? It’s like every device given at Christmas was gifted solely for use with Rovio’s silly game. This massive one-day figure includes both free and paid downloads, and all versions of the game. That’s right at the number of smartphone activations that took place over Christmas, says AllThingsD.

“We’re really excited to have such a massive number of new people get acquainted with Angry Birds over the holidays — we have exciting new releases lined up for 2012, and can’t wait to introduce them to the public,” said Rovio’s Ville Heijari.

New releases? There’s going to be more of this crap? Neat. Someone fling me into a building and let the rubble fall on me.
