All upcoming Create a Sim and Build Mode features in Sims 4 next free base game update

Not everything comes at a cost.

Although Sims 4 has been linked to various premium content, the game does offer free features for base game users. Several notable patches, including the substantial infant update, have changed its dynamics. And now, the title will be expanded even further with the Sims 4’s next free base game update. Here are the changes you can expect in Create a Sim and Build Mode.

What to expect in the next Sims 4 free base game update

The Sims 4 Lovestruck Developer Livestream revealed several new exciting features for the game. It isn’t quite clear when the next update will drop, but it seems like the patch will be released around the Lovestruck expansion pack debut (possibly at the end of July). While it may sound like you need to purchase this new EP, Maxis Studios has confirmed that some content will be entirely free for base game users.

Create a Sim features

The following Sims 4 base game update will include an individual eyelashes section. This feature is typically only included with pre-made makeup styles, where players can’t tweak the eyebrows separately. Once the update launches, two styles will be accessible using their own colors.

One of the biggest reveals from the livestream is the copy-and-paste Create a Sim system. You’ll be able to apply one style to multiple character builds rather than starting from scratch within each outfit section. This mechanic is incredibly convenient, as starting over with new outfits has been tedious (at least for me).

Next, we can look forward to an upcoming feature for the ‘Edit Relationships’ section. The Household Relationships panel will present new labels like Partners, Engaged, and Spouse. This change is part of Maxis Studios’ mission to make the game more gender-neutral, replacing titles like Husband/Wife and Girlfriend/Boyfriend.

Romantic Boundaries is another mechanic on the horizon, personalizing a Sim’s jealous tendencies. For example, you can decide whether or not you want your character to be jealous when their partner engages in non-physical romance.

A Sim’s willingness to change their jealousy can also be tweaked here. If you select ‘Yes,’ they’ll openly talk to their partner to reconsider their Romantic Boundaries. Additionally, you can ask another Sim about their boundaries to avoid crossing them.

Upcoming Sims 4 Build Mode feature

The next free Sims 4 base game update offers curved pools for Build Mode. These builds will work similarly to curved walls and can be used for small or large creations.

You’ll be able to combine the curved pool with regular corners. This approach can be mimicked in the current base game version but can be challenging. Fortunately, the upcoming update should make this process more accessible.
