The journey from Finland to Russia in Road to Vostok isn’t easy, but you can manage it better by unlocking different Shelters. These are your base of operations that will allow you to save your in-game progress. You can also rest and recover at these locations, along with storing all your loot.

All Shelters in Road to Vostok
While the demo had just one Shelter to unlock, the numbers have been increased. There are six of them now, spread across all three map zones. The table below has a list of all Shelters, before we look into how to unlock them in the following section.

How to unlock all the Shelters in Road to Vostok
Here’s how you get to unlock all the Shelters that are available in the game. The method is different for each.
- Cabin: This comes unlocked by default. It offers all the basic amenities. You’ll be using this for a long time until you learn to venture beyond the starting area.
- The Attic: Located above the Generalist (trader), you have to go right from the Cabin. Complete all his quests, and you’ll gain the key. If the trader doesn’t accept the items, click “Start Delivery” and pick the items from your inventory. You can also find the key as a random loot if you’re lucky (in the School Sports Hall).
- Classroom: Located at the School, you’ll have to collect three oil samples. The samples are located in a permadeath location, and it’s almost impossible to get all three in a single trip. Frankly, it’s better to just rely on your luck, given the type of enemies I have found while trying to get the oil samples.
- Tent: Go straight through the School until you reach Outpost. The Tent will be to your immediate left, and it’s available for free. You’ll still need to get shelves from the doctor before you get to store your gear.
- Bunker: Sitting on the left side of the valley in Outpost, you can find the key to this location from the gun trader. You’ll need to first finish a task for him that requires you to eliminate an enemy named the Punisher. Once done, get his hat back to the trader for the key as your reward.
- Apartment Room: Located in Vostok, you’ll have to cross the border checkpoint. Then, the key can be obtained at random from highly secure military zones. Be careful since Vostok is a permadeath region. If you die here, you lose everything, and you’ll have to begin from scratch.
