Today 2K Sports have announced the “Football Ressurected” campaign to promote their upcoming title, All-Pro Football 2K8. The campaign merges the two ingredients that are known to sell units at retail: football and hip-hop. The two are so closely related that they might as well replace all half-time shows with ciphers and graff bomb contests, and ditch all cheerleaders in favor of The Zulu Kings.
All kidding aside, the campaign does look pretty slick, kicking off with an episodic online video series directed by Maz Makhani (who also worked on the R Kelly video classic, “Feelin’ On Yo Booty” and more recently, Nickelback’s “If Everyone Cared.”). The six, two-minute shorts will feature hip-hop artists liks Rakim, Chali 2Na from Jurassic Five, Aceyalone, Pep Love & Casual of Hieroglyphics, and M-1 from Dead Prez.
All-Pro Football 2K8 will be available July 17 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Aceyalone, you’ve got a week to make me care about football. Make it happen.
