All Nimbus Land hidden treasure chests in Super Mario RPG

Get your head in the clouds.

High up in the clouds of Super Mario RPG‘s Nimbus Land, you’ll find a plethora of hidden chests. There are some other nice secrets here too, but we’ll get to that.

There are five hidden treasures here in Nimbus Land, ranking among the most secrets to find in one area of Super Mario RPG. Four of these will be found in the castle, so you’ll need to advance the main story a bit to find them all. Don’t worry, you’ll have free access to the castle later, so if finding some of these chests is a pain, you can return when there are fewer enemies to worry about. Let’s go down the list.

#1: In the Item Shop

The first and easiest hidden treasure chest to get in Nimbus Land is right in the item shop. Behind the vendor you’ll see boxes stacked on top of each other. Jump up them and nab the Frog Coin inside.

#2: In the Castle hallway with three doors

Once you make your way into the castle, you’ll soon find yourself in a hallway with three distinct doorways to go through. In the top corner of this room, you’ll see what looks like a bird in a cage. Jump next to it and you’ll uncover another Frog Coin.

#3: Hidden in space

From that hallway with the three doors described above, take the left door. Go through the hallway behind that door, and travel down the staircase in the next room. Along the bottom of the floor, you’ll see a mysterious looking gap (look where the fork is in the screenshot above). Walk down that to “leave” the map until you reach a dead end. Jump up and reveal a Frog Coin.

#4: Not hidden in space

In the same room, there’s yet another hidden chest with a Frog Coin inside. See the screenshot above for where you need to jump.

#5: Stacked on a box

Once again, we’re hit with the golden Super Mario RPG rule of “if you can jump on a treasure box, there’s probably another hidden treasure box there.” From that hallway mentioned in #2 of this list, enter the middle door. Walk through the room with the statues and you’ll find yourself in a room with two distinct layers. Since you’re on that top one, jump over to the treasure box you’d normally find from that bottom layer and jump straight up. You’ll nab – you guessed it- a Frog Coin.

BONUS: Grab the Fertilizer

While this isn’t a hidden treasure chest, it’s a secret you definitely don’t want to miss. After you clear out the business in the castle and restore peace to Nimbus Land, check the right-side of the town between the two houses there. You’ll find an invisible path, which will lead you to Beezo. This will earn you the Fertilizer item, which, combined with the Seed you got back in Bean Valley, unlocks a great secret.

Head back to Rose Town with these two items and visit the house beyond the exit in the back of the town. Enjoy!
