The Division 2 Corrupted Lanterns explained

When you spot a Corrupted Lantern, interact with it. This will then spawn a Kitsunebi kill squad that you’ll need to fight. Once you defeat the ambush and fight for long enough, you can go up against the Ronin. Defeating the Kitsunebi and the Ronin will help you get event keys.

You can then exchange these event keys to exchange for caches. There are plenty of valuable rewards to be won, and you can find the full details here. Once you find and interact with all 40 Corrupted Lanterns, you’ll get the merit commendation “Herald of Spring Distinction” and an exclusive patch.

Once you have found all 40, you can still get daily chances to interact with a few of them to get more event keys that can be exchanged for the rewards.
