There are a host of different Sanrio characters to befriend in Hello Kitty Island Adventure, and all of them are excellent to have at your side for a few different reasons. Primarily, each character has one or two specific Companion Abilities to help you as you navigate the world around you.
Companion abilities unlock at different times for each character, and it’s easy to forget who offers what. Here’s everything you need to know about Companion Abilities in Island Adventure.
How to unlock Companions in Hello Kitty Island Adventure
Before you can make use of the characters and their Abilities, you’ll need to be able to invite them on your adventures around Friendship Isle. There is no set point for when you can do this, as each character can become a companion once you reach a certain level of friendship with them:
- Hello Kitty – Level 2
- My Melody – Level 4
- Chococat – Level 5
- Tuxedosam – Level 7
- Badtz-maru – Level 5
- Pochacco – Level 8
- Keroppi – Level 6
- Kuromi – Level 13

- Pompompurin – Level 5
- Retsuko – Level 16

- Kiki and Lala* – Complete the “Together Forever” quest
*Kiki and Lala will always join you as joint companions, and completing the quest mentioned above will allow you to have two companions at any one time.
All Companion Abilities in Hello Kitty Island Adventure
When it comes to Abilities, most characters have two different Abilities that unlock at different times when you progress. Once you’ve unlocked both, they will automatically apply when the character joins you as your Companion. A character must be your Companion for their Ability to have any effect.
