Alienware Steam Machine shows up for $375 after coupon

Edging closer to console price

Getting a gaming PC down to the size and price of an eighth-gen console has been Valve’s goal for awhile. Cue the Steam Machine, and while current ones on the market won’t ever parallel the performance of a well-thought-out custom build, the prices are very tempting.

Today Dell released a coupon for its new Alienware Steam Machine, dropping the price to a new low of $375. That’s a $275 drop from its original $650 MSRP and one of the best Steam Machine deals to date.

  • Alienware Steam Machine — $374.84  (list price $650)
  • Use Code: ALPHA15
  • Core i5-4590T, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, GTX 860M GPU

The coupon code is valid through August 4. That should give you a week to decide on the purchase. Do note that Dell is known to kill good offers like this at random time due to supply/stock, so the deal might not actually last that long.

For those interested, you should also opt-into the Dell Advantage Rewards membership program during checkout. It’s free to sign-up and you get two-business-day shipping free plus 5% cash back in rewards points.

Spec-wise, this Alienware Steam Machine can handle modern games just fine. You may want to curbing expectations of 4K gaming, since it’s only a GeForce GTX 860M GPU under the hood. That said, if you tried to build this machine from scratch, we don’t think you could do it for $375 (plus the Steam controller to boot). The Core i5-4590T processor alone is valued at half the price of the system. If you want a no-frills system and an entry-level PC gaming desktop, this might be a good way to start.
