Akuma joins Street Fighter 6 lineup on May 22

Unleash your inner Raging Demon.

The demonic aura around Street Fighter 6 is about to increase ten-fold because a date has been locked in for the arrival of Akuma. The intimidating series mainstay will touch down in Street Fighter 6 as DLC on May 22, 2024.

Those who want to see if they can still pull off a Raging Demon — which is a Level 3 Super Art in Street Fighter 6 —will need to purchase the premium DLC when it’s available. You can also nab Akuma as part of the Year 1 Character Pass, or if you purchased the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition versions of the fighter.

Watch as Akuma makes a not-so-subtle entrance in the gameplay trailer below. You’ll also see his hellish Enma’s Hollow stage and get a chance to sample a bunch of his devastating moves.

I haven’t been keeping up with my Street Fighter 6 skills every single day, but that trailer had me grumbling out a guttural “Messatsu” like I’m still back in my Street Fighter Alpha days. Speaking of which, it’s been 30 years since Akuma first reared his head in Street Fighter II Turbo! His Outfit 2 style is a throwback to his debut appearance.

Along with Akuma, Street Fighter 6 will be dropping some additional updates on May 22. All Year 1 characters will get access to Outfit 3, with additional colors launching for Year 1 Ultimate Pass owners at the same time. The aforementioned Enma’s Hollow stage will go live automatically for all Year 1 Ultimate Pass Owners, as well. There will also be a battle balance, with more details to be divulged as we get closer to launch.
