After two false starts Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is suspending epic mercenary events

They’re ‘working on a fix’

Ubisoft has had a hell of a time setting up its “Epic Mercenary events,” which are basically akin to Hitman 2‘s elusive target timed content launches. Back in mid-October, it had a false start as many players couldn’t even access the content, and several weeks later it happened again. Ubisoft noted that they were “working on a solution,” and now in early November they’re putting the system on ice.

By way of an official forum post a Ubisoft community manager explained, “Two weeks ago, when we attempted to launch the first Epic Mercenary Event with Damais the Indifferent, we discovered that the content didn’t properly appear for a majority of our players. It wasn’t satisfactory to have an event available to only a portion of our players, so we decided to temporarily remove the Epic Mercenary Events from the game altogether until the issue is resolved. We are working on a fix and are hoping to introduce them later this month. We will provide an updated ETA as soon as possible.”

As an apology (not that they need to apologize really, Odyssey is gigantic enough without micro-events) they’re activating extra “Epic Ship Events,” once per week and discounting Sargon’s legendary item next week by 80 Orichalcum. For those of you who don’t play Odyssey, Orichalcum Ore is an endgame currency that’s used to buy some of the rarest items in the game.
