This past weekend saw promotion All Elite Wrestling (AEW) host its AEW Revolution 2022 pay-per-view, emanating from the Addition Financial Arena in Orlando, Florida. By all accounts, it was a great show, featuring the long-awaited showdown between MJF and C.M. Punk, as well as a barn burner between Chris Jericho and everybody’s dad, Eddie Kingston.

For video game fans, however, (of which AEW has many), the biggest headturner of the night was perhaps the appearance of stellar AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill, who was scheduled to defend her title against judoka ass-kicker and number one contender Tay Conti.

When the time came for the wrestlers to make their entrance, Cargill rocked up in a stunning green ensemble, faithfully stylized after Cargill’s Mortal Kombat namesake: Edenian assassin Jade. Accompanied by a live guitar solo from Grammy award-winning artist Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, the Flordia-born champion made her way to the ring to do battle. How’d it go? Spoilers, pal.

Of course, Jade Cargill’s dazzling look was not the first time Mortal Kombat has made its presence known in a pro-wrestling ring. Back in 2020, WWE star Zelina Vega pulled off this awesome look for the Royal Rumble, arriving in gear matching that of Edenian turncoat queen Sindel. And way back in 2011, AJ Lee turned up to a Halloween Battle Royal as Princess Kitana, (complete with amusing “Fan Lift”).

Video game cosplay and pro-wrestling have been in close proximity for some time, and given that AEW is full of fuckin’ nerds, that relationship looks set to be solidified in the future. Oh, and in unrelated news, here’s some brand new action figures which see AEW stars Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks as Street Fighter‘s Akuma, Ryu, and Ken. Complete with tasselboots. Lordy.
