505 Games’ cutesy, ultraviolent Naughty Bear has multiplayer. This was news to me, and realistically, it’s likely the first you’re hearing of it too. The online component is comprised of four modes, all of which are shown in the attached trailer.
“Assault” has two teams either attacking or defending a statue; “Cake Walk” involves players holding onto a cupcake for as long as possible; in “Golden Oozi,” only kills with the titular weapon count; and then there’s “Jelly Wars”: three bears bring jelly deserts to a mixer before a fourth player can kill them.
That last mode has no respawns, and sounds like the most interesting of the bunch. Naughty Bear releases on June 29 for $49.99 — admittedly too high for my blood, but I’ll be eagerly awaiting any price drops or discounts that pop up.
