Adi Shankar adds Hyper Light Drifter TV series to his resume, in addition to Castlevania, Devil May Cry, and Assassin’s Creed

He’s busy!

Hyper Light Drifter kind of slowly took over the gaming-sphere, didn’t it?

Released after a certain degree of excitement on PC in 2016, the team over at Heart Machine provided PS4 and Xbox One ports several months later, followed by a switch port in 2018 with a ton of Direct-led fanfare. As the only finished project under the studio’s belt (Solar Ash Kingdom is on the way) they’re doing just fine: especially given that Hyper Light Drifter is now in the works to become a TV show.

Confirmed to Polygon, Castlevania Netflix producer Adi Shankar (who is also working on Devil May Cry and Assassin’s Creed adaptations) noted that he has a TV version of Hyper Light in the works, and is currently “reaching out to writers” to get the ball rolling.

In addition to some Hollywood production work, Adi Shankar has also worked on many what he calls “Bootleg Universe” films, including the fantastic Punisher: Dirty Laundry, which brings Thomas Jane back into the role he was meant to play from the ill-fated 2004 Lionsgate production. He’s also been on a roll with Castlevania lately, receiving universal praise from fans and newcomers alike for his passion for the source material.

Shankar has a lot to juggle now by adding Hyper Light Drifter into the mix on top of Devil May Cry, Assassin’s Creed and a third season of Castlevania, but I’m looking forward to all of them.
