Activision says ‘isolated manufacturing issue’ beyond Guitar Hero drum issues

Addressing issues of complaints about the drum peripheral that shipped with Guitar Hero World Tour, manufacturer Red Octane cites ‘isolated manufacturing issue’ that impact drum sensitivity.

According to the official statement, random testing of drum kit controllers will be increased to assure they’re working properly. Additionally, Activision will be releasing a “drum tuning kit” that wil let gamers “fully optimized their drums.” In the meantime, those with any issues are encouraged to contact Activision Publishing customer support.

We’ve heard a few unconfirmed reports that while Activision were willing to replace the hardware, there would be a $15 shipping cost. From the sounds of things, any issues with drum sensitivity should be addressed with this “drum tuning kit,” but when this software will be available is unknown.

Any drum horror stories out there? We’re still waiting on our Guitar Hero World Tour review kit, which we’re praying will work like a charm right out of the box. Believe us, we’re ready to rock … just not with Activision Publishing customer support.
