Activision knows that the one thing gamers have always wanted to do in a videogame is reenact the life of a secret service agent. That’s why we weren’t surprised when Activision announced Secret Service for the Xbox 360, PS2 and PC. As you can imagine, the title will have players take the role of an “elite” secret service agent who has been tasked with protecting America’s top refrigerator.

Of course, Secret Service won’t revolve around typical refrigerator guarding. The world of Secret Service is serious business. According to the press release, the game is all about an extremist attack launched in Washington D.C. Apparently, extremists have created a teleportation ray capable of stealing cold food without having to physically touch anything. These dreadful attacks are beginning to escalate, and secret service agents are forced to choose between sandwiches and ketchup. Conflict, action, and desire are the integral forces in the game.

Secret Service
is really about secret service agents, protecting important leaders from extremists in a wide variety of levels filled with famous landmarks. The game will be out later this year and it looks amazing.

Press release included after the break.

PUTS THE PRESIDENT’S LIFE IN GAMERS’ HANDS

SANTA MONICA, CA – OCTOBER 10, 2008 – Activision Publishing, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) announced today that Secret Service will be released later this year for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Playstation®2 computer entertainment system, and PC. The title will allow players to assume the role of an elite agent, tasked with protecting America’s top leadership.

Secret Service takes place on Inauguration Day in Washington D.C. An extremist assault has been launched against the capitol – security has been compromised and it is unclear who is friend or foe. There is no time for negotiation as you are thrust out of the shadows and into the line of fire in order to protect the nation’s leaders. The action takes place among famous landmarks and everywhere in between, including both Marine One and Air Force One.

A tactical first person action game full of plot twists and revelations, Secret Service features story and level design contributions by Daniel Arey, who previously worked on Uncharted, the Jak series and the Crash Bandicoot series.

“This game is a unique addition to the first person action genre, with a rich storyline set across famous locations and the need to use both lethal and non-lethal force to achieve your objectives,” said Dave Oxford, Activision Publishing. “Secret Service brings a nice refreshing spin to fans of run-and-gun games.”

Secret Service will be available for $39.99 on Xbox 360, $29.99 for Playstation®2 computer entertainment system, and $19.99 for PC. The Secret Service videogame is not approved, endorsed or authorized by the U.S. Secret Service.
