From The Mummy producers
The Witcher video games have a lot of sexin’ going on, but that doesn’t mean any movie made about the franchise will be automatically relegated to the late-night softcore adult entertainment channels. There’s a silver screen version of the fantasy franchise in the works, and it sounds like a big-time production.
The movie’s being headed up by The Sean Daniel Company, who produced The Mummy films. It’s said to star Geralt of Rivia, but it won’t tell any tale we’re familiar with. Rather than being an adaption of any game or book, it’ll draw on themes from the series to form its own narrative. This is said to be the first in a series of movies about The Witcher.
Tomasz Baginski has been tabbed as the director for the project. No actors have been announced yet. Right now, they’re shooting for a 2017 release. But, you know how these things go. Don’t pin all your hopes on a video game movie coming out on time (or ever at all).
