The Final Fantasy XIII demo generated decent buzz amongst diehard FF fans, but there’s one big, nasty problem with it: it’s technically a Japanese release. Packaged in with the movie Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, the disc-based demo must be imported to North America. People who don’t want to import the garbage flick for a chance at playing the game are out of luck — currently, at least.
Speaking to the problem, FFXIII producer Yoshinori Kitase said again that a downloadable Western-geared demo could happen, and even better, it may even be a new look at the game. “We are thinking of providing it in a downloadable format,” he said, according to Joystiq. “If we were to provide the demo overseas, it would be a completely new version.”
Well, now all that waiting doesn’t seem so bad, eh? Of course, this isn’t written in stone. Square-Enix may not release a demo in the West. Still, the idea sounds tasty.
