A Plague Tale: Innocence has a free trial covering chapter one

Shout-out to any game that does this

If you aren’t sold on the harrowing stealth-leaning rat-covered narrative adventure game A Plague Tale: Innocence, you should try the newly-released free trial. And if you can’t spare the time or mental energy needed to download and play a trial right now, you at least need to set aside a literal second of your life to watch a swirling column of rats. Jump to the 0:28 mark in this trailer, hit play, and don’t blink.

I didn’t know I was capable of doing a Patrick Stewart quadruple take until now.

To be clear, A Plague Tale has rats – loads of ’em! and it isn’t afraid to use them. The story takes us back to 1349 and follows Amicia and her younger sibling Hugo as they dodge the Plague and the Inquisition in France. Moyse says it “deserves to be heralded as one of 2019’s very best adventures.”

The free trial covers the game’s entire first chapter. It’s available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
