A PC release for 999 is being teased by Spike Chunsoft

It looks pretty clear

Spike Chunsoft is going pretty wild when it comes to PC releases. Following Danganronpa 1 and 2, as well as an upcoming port of Zero Time Dilemma, it looks like 999 is in the cards. With the simple tweet of “A familiar ship heads into port,” accompanied by a reference to the intro of 999, as well as a tweet from the director calling it a “STEAMship,” it seems clear.

Even though the 3DS can play DS games, and the original is fairly easy (and cheap) to find (and the dual screen setup is essential), a wider PC release is always a good thing. This is one of the premiere puzzle/visual novel games of the past decade or so, and a wonderful introduction to the genre.
