Pluto is lurking somewhere in the valley, but to find him, you have to navigate through a series of tricky missions in Disney Dreamlight Valley. One of the final quests you need to complete to get him is A Curious Dish.
Since this task is tied to a series of secret trials, it can be a fairly tough one to unlock and work through. This specific mission also has a hidden and tricky-to-find item that starts this task, making it an easy one to miss. How to complete A Curious Dish in Disney Dreamlight Valley
How to start Pluto’s third unlock quest
To begin the A Curious Dish quest, which is the third mission tied to unlocking Pluto, you must find and fish up a Shiny Tomato. This item will appear in your village after you’ve first completed both The Spaghetti Incident quest and the Life’s a Meatball quest.
Fish up a Shiny Tomato
The first Shiny Tomato can be fished out of a pond in the Peaceful Meadow biome. The precise spawn spot of this item varies for everyone, but mine showed up in the big pond located near the west end of the biome. Check the other two smaller ponds near the east end, too, just in case it appears there.
The Shiny Tomato will appear in a special sparkling gold ripple spot. You’ll be able to spot the red Shiny Tomato sitting in the middle of it, making it easy to distinguish from other regular fishing spots. If you don’t see this item, make sure you’ve finished both of the other two prerequisite missions with Lady. If it’s still not there, you’ll have to wait until the shop resets in your local timezone.
Talk to Lady
Once you’ve fished up the strange Shiny Tomato, find Lady in your valley to fill her in on the latest spaghetti nonsense in the village. She’s not quite sure what to make of it and recommends you seek out some advice from an expert.
Talk to a chef or a wizard about them
You can either seek out the advice of a professional chef, like Tiana, or a wizard, who is Merlin, to learn more about the situation. You’ll get the same results regardless of who you chat with, so it’s entirely up to you. I chose Tiana for this part of the quest.
Fish out more Shiny Tomatoes
Before you can do anything with them, you first need to fish out more Shiny Tomatoes around the valley. For this part of the quest, they can be found in the Peaceful Meadow, Glade of Trust, and the Forest of Valor. The precise spawn spots are random for them here, too, so the process for finding them looks different for all players.
The best way to ensure you don’t miss any is to carefully scour all bodies of water in each region. The Peaceful Meadow has three ponds to check, the Glade of Trust has a long, winding river through the middle, three small ponds, and one large body of water at the top of the river, and the Forest of Valor has a river that runs through the middle with a pool at the top. To complete this task, you’ll need a total of six Shiny Tomatoes from these spots.
Bring every Shiny Tomato you found to Lady
With all the Shiny Tomatoes you found in your inventory, track down Lady around the village. Chat with her to pass them over and discuss what should be done next. You now have everything you need to make a strange yet satisfying dish, so that’s what you need to do.
Cook a dish combining the ingredients you’ve found
Throughout the Pluto quests you’ve tackled with Lady, you’ve obtained three magical ingredients. Now, you can head to any cooking station to combine them into something delicious. Toss in the Rolling Spaghetti, the Magical Meatballs, and the Shiny Tomato Sauce that the Tomatoes you found transformed into. Combining all three gets you Memorable Spaghetti and Meatballs.
Go to Lady and Tramp’s house with the Memorable Spaghetti and Meatballs
With the dish you cooked in your inventory, head to Lady and Tramp‘s house to progress. Give the Memorable Spaghetti and Meatballs to Lady once you’re inside. She and Tramp will dig in, and a magical Memory will then spawn nearby.
Examine the Memory
Open the Memory that dropped on the ground nearby to reveal the third and final piece of the Memory. This piece reveals that the picture you’ve been working on all this time is Pluto’s name on a dog collar pendant.
Pick up Pluto’s License
After viewing the Memory, a shiny, sparkling Pluto’s License item will spawn on the ground nearby. Pick it up, then walk over to Lady to chat with her and see what she thinks of the strange item.
Reassemble Pluto’s Dog Collar
You now have Pluto’s License, which is the collar pendant from the last step, and the Well-Loved Dog Collar, which is the circular green part of the collar that goes around his neck, from the Meatballs quest. Head to a crafting station and switch over to the Functional Items page to find and make Pluto’s Collar.
Once it’s made, show this item to Lady to finish the A Curious Dish quest. There’s just one more mission to check off after this before Pluto will officially join you in the village, so you’re almost done unlocking Pluto. To actually get him, though, you’ll need to ensure you have all Mementos so you can work through The Moose Hunt quest, which is when you officially recruit him.
