at what the King of Kong: a Fistful of Quarters movie is going to be like a few weeks ago. After watching that trailer, I thought maybe the movie would show people a unique side to classic gaming. Watching this newest clip though has killed a little piece of my soul.
This leaked clip of one of the scenes from the movie introduces Mark “Piger” Alpiger, a late bloomer who is 43-years-old. Piger holds the record title to Crystal Castles. In fact, he’s so good at the game, he can play it with his feet. Not only that, he’s so cool, he abbreviates game names:
“It’s not Marble Madness, it’s Marble. It’s not Crystal Castles, it’s Crystal. It’s not Paper Boy, it’s Paper. (Looks at someone off screen) I don’t know, do you say Paper or Paper Boy?”
If you’ve managed to get beyond this part of the clip without dying from laughter, Piger goes on to describe his hate of “suits with low brain power”, how long he’s been playing, and how he discovered that weight lifting gloves work great playing with Marble and other arcade games.
