You would be forgiven for believing Batman: Arkham City has a multiplayer component, based on word that’s been traveling across the web. Rocksteady Studios has finally put an end to the rampant speculation in an interview with IGN.
“With the game now coming to the final stages, I can honestly say it would not have been possible to deliver Arkham City the way we wanted to if we’d have added multiplayer,” says game director Sefton Hill after referring to the game as “a ‘single-player only’ experience.”
“So it might not be the fashionable choice, it might not get us an extra tick on the box, but we are convinced, and we hope that gamers will agree when they get to play the finished game, that we have made the right decision.”
Even though Rocksteady could have likely done multiplayer quite well, I’m relieved to hear this.
