Kinect is the ‘fastest selling consumer electronic ever’

Microsoft has made the incredibly confident claim that Kinect is the “fastest selling consumer electronic in history.”

Chief financial officer Peter Klein made the statement during a conference call, where he also revealed that Microsoft’s Entertainment & Devices division has grown 55% in the past year. The division includes Xbox 360 and PC gaming, the Zune, and Windows Phone 7, and generated $3.7 billion in revenue in Q4 of 2010.

There’s little doubt that Kinect did well, but Microsoft has placed its success above that of the Wii, DS, and everything Apple’s ever done. Quite a claim. Can you believe it?
