It’s stating the obvious that the rise of Steam and the shift towards a digital marketplace for games has helped developers find success for niche and breakthrough titles. Developer Paradox Interactive has decided after doing well on Steam, to release retail copies for some of its biggest franchises.

On November 22, Paradox will be releasing boxed copies of Magicka, Hearts of Iron III, and Cities in Motion. These editions will be collections including all the DLC available for each game, so for example, you’ll be able to pick up all the crazy add-ons for Magicka on one disc.

Cities of Motion will have the expansions for Germany and Tokyo and Hearts of Iron III will include the Semper Fi and the For the Motherland expansions. Each collection will retail between $19.99 and $39.99. I’d be interested to see how well these games do, consider the joke that is PC games at retail. Would any of you guys pick these games up in a brick and mortar shop over buying via Steam?
