Billy Mitchell’s tie spotted in new Donkey Kong game

Recommended Videos

Donkey Kong Country Returns is filled with little in-jokes and nods to Nintendo history. I thought the inclusion of Mr. Game and Watch  was sure to remain my favorite amongst them all, but I think Billy Mitchell’s tie might be the new King of (Donkey) Kong (Country Returns) Easter Eggs.

Oh f*ck, I’m going to Hell for that last pun. Was that even a pun? God, I’m sorry everybody.

But yeah, Billy Mitchell’s signature American flag tie from The King of Kong is in stage 3-2 of Donkey Kong Country Returns. As if I needed another reason to envy and despise Billy Mitchell, now he’s been referenced in one of the best 2D platformers ever made.

Good thing he doesn’t have a boss from Bit.Trip RUNNER named after him. Then I’d really be jealous.
